Hand made marionette depicting an Arabian Sultan. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting an Arabian Sultan. He is weaing a yellow shirt, green embroidered jacket, red pants, black embroidered belt, and multi-coloured hat. He has a painted face, hand and feet (with painted slippers), and has black woolly hair poking out from under his hat. There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of him, including his head, limps and shoulders. The feet have been weighted.
