Summary
Hand made marionette depicting a beagle dog. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting a dog, which has been sewn in a soft, creamy/lemon fabric. He has brown patches, some of which have been painted on, whilst others appear to be part of the fabric. His ears have been made from brown fabric. The dogs eyes are of clear plastic and have a fabric 'eyelid' glued to it. This marionette has a mechanism which is made from one piece of wood.There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of him, including his head, limps and shoulders. The feet have been weighted.
