Summary

Alternative Name(s): Dog Tag, Identity Disc

Metal identity tag from World War I. Engraved with the number 2496 and the letter 'C', and appears incompletely engraved. It was acquired by Museum Victoria with a similar, unengraved tag in a leather pouch.

Six servicemen had the number 2496 in World War I: Harcourt Adams, Cyril Thomas Cody, Frederick John Larter, James Cecil Oliver, Benjamin Reeves and Thomas Young. It is not known which of these men wore this tag, although the letter C might suggest it was Cyril Cody.

Physical Description

Circular, metal identity disc. Has a moulded hook at the top.
