Summary

Alternative Name(s): Dog Tag, Identity Disc

Metal identity tag from World War I. It has not been engraved with personal details, although was acquired by Museum Victoria in a pouch with another identity tag numbered 2496 and engraved with the letter 'C', appearing incompletely engraved.

Six servicemen had the number 2496 in World War I: Harcourt Adams, Cyril Thomas Cody, Frederick John Larter, James Cecil Oliver, Benjamin Reeves and Thomas Young. It is not known which of these men wore this tag, although the letter C would suggest it was Cyril Cody.

Physical Description

Circular metal identity tag. Has a moulded hook at the top.
