Summary
Hand made marionette depicting a bettle. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette of a bettle, with a body and head made of extremely light wood. It is painted green with black and tan painted detail and green glitter. It has nine rubber legs which have been nailed on, one leg is missing. The beetle also has two rubber feelers attached to the front of its head. The eyes are plastic with a red background and black pupil. It is suspended from a piece of wood rather than a mechanism.
