Hand made marionette depicting a large brown bear. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting a large stuffed bear with a furry green body and a furry brown head. Fabric is in quite good condition, it is not very worn. Limbs are a little flat and stitching attaching arms to body is loose. He has white plastic eyes with black pupil. His nose and mouth have been stitched in thick red thread. He has soft leather-type fabric on the soles of his feet. There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of him, including his head, limps and shoulders. The feet have been weighted
