Summary

Hand made marionette depicting a small cream dog with a red and white ball. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.

Physical Description

Marionette depicting a small cream dog, made from a cream knit fabric with black spots. He has a red collar, which has two studs on it. The dog's face has been constructed with panels of black and white velvet-type fabric. His ears and snout have been painted in black, yellow and white. The dog's eyes are clear plastic. A red and white striped ping-pong ball is attached to a piece of string so it dangles in front of the dog's nose. Marionette has a mechanism consisting of one piece of wood.
