Physical Description
An aluminium-bronze coin (25.1 mm diameter) featuring on the obverse a crowned head of Elizabeth II facing right, around, ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1996 the artist's initials RDM incuse on the neck truncation. The reverse features the head of Sir Henry, bearded, three-quarters right with the denomination 1 DOLLAR; around incuse on left, SIR HENRY PARKES 1815 - 1896, around on right, "FATHER" OF FEDERATION; the mint mark S is in the field after the word FEDERATION. The coin is in a blue and white coin pack (147 * 67 mm when opened). The packaging provides the portrait of Sir Henry on which the coin design was based and some biographical details.
