Silver Denarius struck during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian for Lucius Aelius Caesar in 137 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. L. Ceionius Commodus was adopted by Hadrian in 136 AD with the name L. Aelius Caesar. He received the tribunicia potestas (TR POT on this coin) in December that year and held the Consulship for the second time (COS II on this coin) from 1 Jan. 137. He was to be the successor of Hadrian but died on 1 Jan. 138.
