Three-quarter angle view from forward over bow showing starboard side of the Orient Line passenger steamer RMS Orcades travelling at full speed. Probably taken during the ship's offical speed trials off the Isle of Arran, Firth of Clyde, Scotland, held in early November, 1948, during which the vessel registered a maximum speed of 24.7 knots over the measured nautical mile.
