Significance
Province House is depicted on the reverse of this token. This building commenced operation on 11 February 1819. The token, is dated 1815 but depicts four columns above the central door which do not occur on the building itself. The columns may have been part of the original plan for the building. Priovince House originally housed the Legislative Council (an upper council appointed by the Governor), the House of Assembly (currently representing 52 electoral districts) and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. The Legislative Council was discontinued in 1928.
