Physical Description
An six coin set of $2, $1, 50 cent, 20 cent, 10 cent and 5 cent housed in an ultrasonically sealed clear styrene plastic container which is mounted in a blue folder. The reverse types are standard for each denomination except the dollar coin which commemorates the centenary of the death of Sir Henry Parkes, it features a portrait of Sir Henry. All coins are struck with mirror fields and matt relief. The set is stored in a mint issue cardboard box with a printed pamphlet all of which should be retained. $2 & $1 aluminium-bronze; 50 to 5 cent cupro-nickel.
Obverse Description
All coins bear a head of Elizabeth II crowned and wearing pearl ear-ring and necklace facing right; around, ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1996; incuse on neck truncation the artist's initials RDM (Raphael Maklouf)
Reverse Description
Standard types for each denomination except the dollar coin which commemorates the centenary of the death of Sir Henry Parkes, it features a portrait of Sir Henry with the legend: SIR HENRY PARKES 1815 - 1896 "FATHER" OF FEDERATION
