The lion was current at 10 shillings, it was re-introduced as part of the second coinage of James II which had the intention of bringing the Scottish coins into line with the English.
Obverse Description
At centre within a beaded circle, crowned shield bearing lion rampant left with border of lis between two crowns; around, crown IACOBVS D GRA REX SCOTTORVM (the first T over an R)
Reverse Description
St. Andrew niblate and extended on diagonal cross, arms and legs tied by ropes, between two crowned lis; around, crown XPC REGNAT XPC VINCIT (translation, Christ reigns, Christ conquers)
