Zugspitze is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains, and the highest mountain in Germany (2,962 metres above sea level), it lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There is skiing on both the German and Austrian sides of the mountain, and it is Germany's highest ski resort.
