Garmisch is a mountain resort town in Bavaria, southern Germany. In 1935 it was forced to combine with the neighbouring town of Partenkirchen to the east in anticipation of the 1936 Winter Olympic games. Today the joint town is the administrative centre of the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the two areas within the town still retain quite separate identities.

Winter streetscape, scene depicts a snowcovered street in the village of Garmisch. There is snow on the road and on the roofs of the buildings which line either side of the road.
