Stone money known as Rai from Yap Island. Yap Island lies north of New Guinea, located in the area of the Pacific now known as the Federated States of Micronesia.
Yap Island is famous for its stone money. For centuries, the heavy stone was collected from Palau Island, over 400 kilometres away.
Physical Description
Round irregular brown stone disc with central hole. Surface has cross-hatch-like pattern exposing white areas of stone.
