Summary

China Honan
100 Cash 1851 - 1868 (AD)
Mint: Kaifeng

This Chinese brass coin was found by metal detectors scouring abandoned Victorian mining fields. It was brought by one of the thousands of Chinese migrants who flocked to the goldfields during the 1850s.

After the British and Irish, the Chinese community became the largest in Victoria. In 1855 the Victorian government passed Australia's first immigration act, restricting Chinese migration.
