Other Details: This engraved silver medal was presented to the bandmaster of the Melbourne Hippodrome, T.B.Johnson, in 1881. It was awarded by R. Driver for 'satisfactory management as bandmaster April 1881'. The Hippodrome was an entertainment facility that was located on the site of the future Comedy Theatre in Exhibition Street in the 1890s. In 1911 a new hippodrome was built on the site of the future Arts Centre in St Kilda Road.
