Other Details: Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897 was celebrated the great enthusiasm throughout the British Empire. It prompted many Australian local governments to issue commemorative medals. This was a trial medal by Altmann, who changed 1887 date to 1897 reverse tooled off and finely inscribed "600 0+1 12/6".
