The fiftieth anniversary of the ascension of Queen Victoria was celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the Empire. This medal was one of many issued by local organistions to commemorate the occasion. It was struck in white metal.

Obverse Description

Head of Queen Victoria veiled and wearing coronet; around, TO COMMEMORATE THE JUBILEE OF THE REIGN OF QUEEN VICTORIA . 1887 .

Reverse Description

Shield with BORN / MAY 1819 / CROWNED / JUNE 1838 / MARRIED / 1840 supported by kangaroo on left with head left, and emu on right; above, GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
