The collection is based on her life in the fruit growing and dairying community of Merrigum, a town west of Shepparton, in the Goulburn Valley. Lilian Pitts was born in 1872 and arrived in Merrigum with her family in 1893 and died in 1947.
Description of Content
Small crowd standing on Merrigum station decorated with flags and bunting. A 'welcome home' banner is also displayed. Station itself has unusual roof structure.
Significance
Lilian Louisa Pitts - a collection of over 500 images taken by a photographer based in Merrigum in the 1910-1920 period. Images cover life in the local area ie family life, recreation, school, farm life and town life.
