An engraving of this image was used in an illustrated advertisement to promote the Mildura Coffee Palace.

The advertisement described how the building was 'on elevated ground right in front of the Settlement and commands a good view of the Murray up and down stream...The building was well erected at a cost of about f5000, and is replete with every requisite of a high-class hotel. It has 27 lofty Bedrooms, large Dining-hall, Drawing-room, Smoking and Reading Rooms. There is also a large Billiard Room, with Writing and Retiring Rooms'.
