Part of the Biggest Family Album collection of images comprising approximately 10,000 negatives documenting life in rural and regional Victoria dating from the 1890s to the 1940s.

This image captures Peg Newton on horseback in the dam at Chateau Mildura, in Belar Avenue, Irymple, the vineyard established by the Chaffey brothers in 1888. The Chaffeys planted 150 acres of wine grapes here, not far from Psyche Bend, which provided irrigation water for the winery and for the surrounding district. Chateau Mildura is regarded as the birthplace of region's wine industry. One of its brands, 'Mildara', became a household name.
