Description of Content
Horsedrawn earthmoving implements used for creating fire breaks on 'Portland Downs' station. The rear quarters of a draught horse can be seen hitched to a four-wheeled grader. The grader had hand-wheels on either side for adjusting the depth of the blade and a large wooden crate on the front that was probably used to contain rocks added as ballast weight. A single-furrow mouldboard 'road making' plough is being carried on top of the grader.
