Gold coin; Denomination: Stater
This is a Westerham type stater (named after a small hoard of coins of this type found at Westerham in Kint in 1927). It is also classed as British A, the first coins struck after settlement in Britain by people moving from Belgic-Gaul. Its design is copied from the Gallo-Belgic types, ultimately based on Macedinian models. It depicts the head of Apollo, now mostly signified by his wreath of leaves, and a horse now a series of lines crescents and pellets.
