Wulfred Archbishop of Canterbury (805-832)

Wulfred succeeded Aethelheard as archbishop of Canterbury in AD 805. Before Wulfred coins issued by the Archbishops of Canterbury referred to the reigning Kings of Mercia, Offa and Coenwulf. Wulfred, who was engaged in land disputes with the King, discontinued this practice and added his own portrait to the obverse. Wulfred died in AD 832.
