Description of Content

A young boy in a home made boat used to cross the Glenelg River in times of flood and also when the river was high so that he could attend Chetwynd School. The boat was 8 ' long, 4' wide and the sides 1' high. The keel was 4' by 2'. Paddling required three strokes on the bottom side and then two strokes on the top side. If weight was placed on the bottom side the boat would capsize.
