Place & Date Depicted
'Erskine House', Lorne District, Victoria, Australia, circa 1895
Data originally in this record suggested a date of between 1885 & 1905. John S. Norman, photographer, at Lorne was in business from 1884-1900 according to Davies & Stanbury, 'The Mechanical Eye in Australia', 1985, p.208. However, based on costume assessment by curator it seems the photograph likely to date to the late 19th century, before 1900. Erskine House was constructed between 1868 & 1939, with further additions and alterations occurring in the post-World War II period. -
