A train load of East Gippsland rail gangers in open trucks with a pile of sleepers in the foreground. The locomotive is a Victorian Railways W class 4-6-0 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in the USA. A total of 13 of this class were used in Victoria built between 1879 and 1883 with one example built in Ballarat by the Phoenix Foundry.
