Summary
Photograph of Mrs and Mrs Lockett in a milking shed, Neerim North, Victoria, around 1925. A cow stands in front of them.
This is probably Stanley Herbert Locket, service # 2200, who settled in Neerim South after World War I on a soldier-settlement farm. He enlisted on 16 August 1915 and served in the 8 Light Horse Regiment - 15 to 31 Reinforcements, in the Middle East. He suffered from several bouts of illness during his war service including neurasthenia, pyrexia, neuritis, myalgia, intermittent wounds in the groin, foot, hands and back, and finally pneumonia. He returned to Australia in early 1918. He died in his sleep on 15 September 1940, aged 48. He had attended the annual smoke social of the R.S.L. in Neerim South the night before. He left a widow and four children. (The Argus, 17 Sep 1940, p. 8)
