Potin is a high tin content bronze. Produced by casting in strips and breaking the individual coins apart, leaving runnulets from the casting process. The style of this coinage is based on pieces from central Gaul. On early pieces the head of Apollo and the butting bull were realistically rendered, by the time this piece was made (about the middle of the period of production) the head obverse and animal reverse can still be recognised.
Obverse Description
Within a line circle, a Celtic interpretation of the head of Apollo facing left with the eye represented by three beads.
Reverse Description
Within a line circle, a line image representing a bull advancing right with head (a shallow arc) facing back, ground line below.
