Description of Content

A 4 h.p. 'Sundial' engine powered belt-drive S.M.H. No.1 hay press, March 1940. The raised arm with saw-toothed blade above the baling chamber (called the 'magpie') feds the hay was fed into the baling chamber. A ram operated on a crank between the two large gear wheels.
