Other Details: This is a lead trial struck to test the obverse die for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Prize medals. It depicts a female figure seated at left holding victors wreath in air; at right, XVI TH. OLYMPIAD / MELBOURNE / 1956. It was commissioned by the Melbourne Olympic Committee, which was responsible for organising the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, including construction of stadiums, athletes' accommodation, press coverage and medal production.
