The legend on the coin reads as a single title from front to back, it translates: William III by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland. Someone has scratched the initials AP and the date 1777 on the obverse and someone else (?) the letters MM on the reverse.

Obverse Description

Laureate bust of William III right; around, GVLIELMVS . III . DEI . GRA. The letters AP scratched in the field either side of the head and 1777 scratched on neck below chin.

Reverse Description

Crowned shields of England, Scotland, Ireland and France forming a cross shape, with the arms of the House Nassau at the centre; around, MAG. BR. FRA ET. HIB REX 1695, the date being divided by the crown above the English arms. The letters MM inscribed at the sides of the French shield.

In raised lettering: DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI SEPTIMO
