Description of Content
Looking north from the railway station and railway yards at Wangaratta. There is a steam locomotive hauled passenger train travelling in the up direction (towards Melbourne) approaching across a level crosing in the distance. To the left in the background are what appear to be weatherboard railway workers cottages, with further houses in the township to the right beyond the railway telegraph line. In the right foreground is a signal pole with two 'somersault' arm type semaphore signals and two revolving disc and lamp signals. There is a number '9' painted on the signal post. On the right is the end of an elevated timber station platform and to the left beyong the sidings are piles of timber railway sleepers and sapre rails.
