Walter Woodbury was an inventor and pioneering English photographer who was one of the earliest practioners of the wet-plate (or collodian) process in Australia. Woodbury was active in Melbourne from 1852-1857.

View from Parliament House of Melbourne city buildings showing The Old White Hart Hotel in the foreground on the corner of Spring and Bourke Street. Early election speeches were made from the corner balcony of the hotel. Gas lamps are pictured in the foreground.
