One of thirteen reproduced black and white photographs of early Melbourne taken by Walter Bentley Woodbury (1834-1885), purchased from The Royal Photographic Society in Bath, England.

Walter Woodbury was an inventor and pioneering English photographer who was one of the earliest practioners of the wet-plate (or collodian) process in Australia. Woodbury was active in Melbourne from 1852-1857.
