Aerial view of Hobart showing the Derwent River and Old Floating Bridge. The Hobart Floating Bridge with a lift span near the western shoreline was brought into service on 22 December 1943, initially operating as a toll bridge until tolls were removed from 1 January 1949. The bridge remained in service until 17 August 1964, being replaced by the new high-level Tasman Bridge.
