A three dimensional mural depicting John Batman in the 1830s surveying the site of the city of Melbourne, which was located above the entrance to the Coles Department Store in Bourke Street, during the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. The background consisted of mechanised panels which could turn to reveal a view of the Melbourne skyline in 1956.

One of a set of 147 35mm Kodachrome tranparencie slides donated to the Museum in 1987. The images are all taken during the Olympic Games held in Melbourne in November and December, 1956.
