Part of a large photographic collection of glass plate and film negatives, photographic prints and photo albums, relating to the development of the electric power supply industry in Victoria, operated by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) from 1919 to 1993 and various predecessor private and municipal power supply enterprises dating back to the late 1880s.

Early construction at Yallourn 'A' power station, showing the turbine house under construction: frame, roof and walls in progress. In the foreground are the foundations of the control house and construction materials. On the far left, early works on the boiler house can just be seen. There are workmen in and around the control room foundations. On the far right the concreting plant is conveying concrete into the turbine house. There is a workman in the shed in the right foreground, working on wood, and a power pole in front of it.
