There are several tipping goods trucks in front of the locomotive and on a siding in the background. The people standing on the locomotive are two women, two children and two men dressed in suits with hats, all of whom appear to be visitors to the works rather than workers. In the foreground is another man in a suit and hat looking down as what appears to be a camera. To the right in front of an electric light pole is another man that may be a company worker. In the foreground there is a pool of water in front of the railway track that shows a reflection of the locomotive and people.
