Summary
Hand made marionette depicting a green snake. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting a snake, whose body has been constructed by attaching small, cylindrical pieces of wood together, which have then been covered in light green fabric with painted black scales. The tail is made of a thin piece of wood (or a piece of cardboard?) and painted green and black. The snake's head has been painted green, with black detailing. He has a red mouth and red eyes made from beads that have been nailed to his head. The underside of his head has felt nailed to it. There are two hooks on the body which attach it to the mechanism.
