Summary
Hand made marionette depicting Santa Clause, with a green costume rather than the usual red. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting Santa Clause, who is wearing a traditional Santa costume(jacket, pants and hat with white fur trim) but in green. There are some small holes in his clothing but it is in good condition overall. He wears turquoise boots. His hands have been painted a pinky-peach colour with black detailing. His face is quite brightly painted (red cheeks, chins and nose with purple eyebrows). His facial features are very pronounced. Green Santa has plastic green eyes with black pupils. His face paint is quite chipped. There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of him, including his head, limbs and shoulders. The feet have been weighted
