Hand made marionette depicting a noble woman in evening dress. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting a noble woman, who is wearing a long floral jacket in green, blue, orange, yellow and white. She has matching cream lace and cotton cuffs and lapel.There is a large 'emerald' and 'diamond' diamante buckle on her front. Her ankle length skirt is blue with a sparse, floral design in pink, orange, red, yellow and green. Her white shoes have been painted on as has her peachy coloured calves. She is missing the felt sole from her right foot. Her hands are pink and slightly worn. The Lady's face is in good condition with minimal cracking and no chipping. Her wavy, blonde hair, however, is disintegrating. In her hair she wears more diamantes. The lady comes with a three piece mechanism. There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of her, including her head, limbs and shoulders. The feet have been weighted
