Hand made marionette depicting a man wearing a pair of britches. It was manufactured and operated in Melbourne by Alex and Murray Smith, who performed as part of Le Forgeron Marionettes from 1930 until 1956.
Physical Description
Marionette depicting a man, who is wearing green velour britches and a blue jacket with five plastic pearl buttons down his front. His open jacket collar is in a pale green and exposes his white, green and blue striped top underneath. He also wears a black vinyl belt, painted white stockings and black shoes. His face is in quite good condition, although there are a few small cracks and chips to the paintwork. He has plastic blue eyes, which have been set into his head. Some of his hair remains, but is very short and covered in glue, perhaps he once wore a hat. it has a three piece mechanism. There are operating strings attached to numerous parts of him, including his head, limbs and shoulders. The feet have been weighted
