Summary
Affirmation of Australian Citizenship Certificate which forms part of an Australian Citizenship Affirmation Pack issued by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs in 2003 as part of an Australian Government Initiative. The pack emphasises the need for Australian citizens to have a shared vision and commitment to the future of Australia, and highlights the common values and aspirations of Australian citizens. It represents the continued desire to encourage migrants to take out citizenship as well as a new trend towards affirmation - existing citizens reaffirming their national allegiances.
Physical Description
Single sheet of paper, printed in colour on one side only. The certificate has a blue border and a yellow background colour. The Australian Coat of Arms is placed at the top centre of the certificate and the lines of the affirmation appear directly underneath in red, black and blue print.
