Other Details: Silver-plated medal issued by the Shire of Hastings to commemorate the sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1985. Hastings is situated on the western shore of Western Port Bay. The original pastoral lease of the area, which includes Hastings, was granted to Martha Jane King, one of the few women who were granted a lease. After the property was sub-divided Hastings became important fishing and fruit-growing region.

Physical Description

A silver-plated medal issued by the Shire of Hastings to commemorate the sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1984-5 and the silver Jubilee of the Shire. It features representations of the main industries of the area, sheep, cattle, fruit, fishing and sailing and the sesquicentenary logo.

Within broad rim formed by line circle, divided into four quarters by star with the quarters containing head of cow and sheep facing, fruit, a fish, and a leisure sailing boat under full sail to right; around, SHIRE OF HASTINGS * SILVER JUBILEE 1960 - 1985
