Summary
A copper medal issued by the City of Geelong to commemorate the sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1984-5. It features the City's Coat of Arms and the sesquicentenary logo. Geelong is Victoria's largest provincial urban region, and is both a port and an industrial centre. It is located 65 km from central Melbourne across the Port Phillip and Corio Bays. The Town of Geelong became a City on 8 December 1910. The City was amalgamated with the Cities of Geelong West and Newtown, the Rural City of Bellarine, the Shires of Corio and South Barwon and parts of the Shires of Bannockburn and Barrabool on 18 May 1993 to form the Greater Geelong City Council.
