Significance

During World War I a large quantity of French bronze coin came into circulation in Jersey. In 1923 these coins were removed, melted and re-struck as Jersey bronze pieces at the Royal Mint, London. A new reverse design was introduced apparently to mark this recoinage (although it was continued in the next issue, 1926, and not replaced until the issue after that, 1931)
