General Description
Above: dark brown with white markings (males), or yellow markings (females). Below: orange-brown with spots as above (males), or with a purplish tinge on the hindwing and faint markings (females). Wingspan up to 3 cm.
Biology
Barred Skipper butterflies fly in late summer through to autumn. Their caterpillars feed on common grasses.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Open eucalypt forests and urban areas.
